Dec. 2 2015 CHICAGO IL – After pulling off a huge win last night the Manitoba Moose were brought back down to reality tonight as they faced a very strong Wolves club that was very snarly, trying to snap a three game losing skid . The Wolves exploded for a 8-2 victory despite being out shot by Manitoba 37-28.
Manitoba threw everything at the Wolves net but just couldn’t find many leaks on Chicago netminder Pheonix Copley who was kicking out black rubber biscuits all game long finishing the game with 35 saves.
Eric Comrie, coming off a big game yesterday, couldn’t find any luck tonight as he was beaten for eight goals against making 20 saves. He will have a couple of days to regroup as the team travels to Toronto for a pair of games this weekend.
This wasn’t the start the Moose were looking for as they allowed three unanswered goals early as Spencer Asuchak got his first of the campaign, Jordan Caron added his third, and Ty Rattie scored his eighth on a breakaway.
Asuchak scored his second of the game in the second before the Moose got on the board as Captain John Albert ripped home his second of the season.
A four goal third period sealed the deal for the Wolves as Andre Benoit got his second, Yannick Veilleux his fifth, Pat Cannone his sixth, and Asuchak completed the hat trick with his third. Chase De Leo scored the lone Moose goal, his third of the season.
This game was a penalty filled contest as these two teams do not like each other. Scooter Vaughan of the Wolves and Thomas Raffl dropped the mitts in the first period and had a good little dance. The Moose went 1 for 8 on the power play, while Chicago went 1 for 4. There was a lot of hacking and slashing going on as these two division rivals were acting like it was the playoffs.
The Moose will look to regroup this weekend when they face another tough test in Toronto with the second place team in the Eastern Conference, the Marlies.
