WICHITA, KS – The Wichita Thunder continued their seven-game road trip with a swing through South Dakota and Colorado. It will end this Friday and Saturday nights with a pair of games in Tulsa.

Here is a look back at the last week of Thunder hockey and what you’ll be talking about at the water cooler.

Last Week’s Results (Home team in CAPS):

Tuesday: Wichita 2 @ RAPID CITY 7 — Rapid City scored five unanswered goals, including four in the second period, as they blitzed the Thunder. Michael Neal and Dean Chelios provided the offense for Wichita.

Wednesday: Wichita 1 @ COLORADO 2  — Goaltender Eric Levine stymied a late charge from the Thunder after the Eagles jumped out in front by a pair of goals.

Friday: Wichita 2 @ COLORADO 3  — Wichita surrendered a first period lead, as the Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the second period. Joey Sides and Landon Oslanski were the goal scorers for Wichita.

Saturday: Wichita 0 @ COLORADO 4 — Behind a 20-save shutout from Eric Levine and two goals from Adrian Veideman, Cololrado cruised to a 4-0 victory.

Team Notes:

The Wrong Kind of Streak: The Thunder have not won a game since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. That’s a span of seven games and twenty days as of this writing. In that streak, the team has allowed 3.86 goals per game, while only scoring 1.29 goals and being shutout twice.

Western Swing: The Thunder made its final trip to the Budweiser Events Center this past week. Wichita will play the Eagles one more time this season, Friday, February 5th at INTRUST Bank Arena. The Thunder has one more trip to the Black Hills with a pair of games in the beginning of April.

First Timers: Joey Sides, Dean Chelios and Landon Oslanski recorded their first goals in a Thunder uniform over the past week. Chelios scored his first on Tuesday night against Rapid City. Both Sides and Oslanski scored on Friday night in a 3-2 loss at Colorado.

Road Trip Continues: Wichita and Tulsa will resume their longtime rivalry with a pair of games at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK Friday and Saturday nights. Wichita is 2-2-0-0 in the series so far this season. The two teams have played each other 268 times with Wichita going 59-62-11 on the road in the series.

Will the Force be With Wichita? The team will play the Cincinnati Cyclones on “Star Wars” night on Sunday. It is the first ever meeting between the two clubs. The Thunder will wear specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game with the proceeds benefiting the Wichita Youth Hockey Association. Characters from the movie will be on hand taking pictures and walking around the concourse of INTRUST Bank Arena.
