The Wichita Thunder continue to bolster their blueline, announcing the re-signing of defenseman Dan Milan and bringing in Brandon Martell.
Last season in Wichita, Milan appeared in 70 games for the Thunder, collecting 17 points, 178 PIMs and was a -6. In 46 prior ECHL games with the Florida Everblades, Milan tallied 8 points and was a +5. He has spent time with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, including a call-up after the Thunder’s 2014-15 season concluded.
“Dan Milan emerged as a leader for us last year,” said Head Coach Kevin McClelland. “His never back down attitude is something that other players feed off of. He is a welcomed addition back for another season.”
Coming to Wichita is defenseman Brandon Martell, who split last season between the Rapid City Rush and Evansville IceMen. He appeared in 69 games last season, scoring 8 goals and 13 assists, but was -31, most coming on a bad IceMen squad. Prior to last season, Martell played parts of two seasons in Kalamazoo, where he appeared in 56 games and collected 8 points.
“Brandon is a big body who skates well and can move the puck. He was solid in his time against us in Rapid City,” McClelland said.
The two additions now bring the total of announced signings by the team to 15 for the coming season.
