I started The Sin Bin in 2012 with the vision of giving the fans a voice. Now in it’s third season, The Sin Bin has brought fans from all over North America together to talk hockey on a nightly basis. As the reach of The Sin Bin started to expand, I felt as though my single voice was not strong enough. After talking with some of my respected colleagues, I decided to expand The Sin Bin into new markets. Now we will have writers in Wichita, Allen, Reading, Quad City, Tulsa, and Cincinnati, not to mention everyone’s favorite jokester, ECHL Memes.

Our ultimate goal is to have a Sin Bin contributor in every ECHL market. That being said, I am more interested in quality than quantity, which is why we are starting small. I don’t want The Sin Bin to be known as the biggest ECHL fan site, but the best, most engaging, most entertaining site available to ECHL fans. We want fans in every city to know that if they want to talk about their team, get the inside scoop, and some fresh opinions, then The Sin Bin is the place to go. It will be a work in progress, and there is bound to be some growing pains, but we know that. Our site is a site that is for the fans, by the fans. So we’ll be open to suggestions from our readers to help improve what we do. We welcome dialogue and debate. Hell, if we all agreed all of the time, then it wouldn’t be much fun.

I would like to take a minute and thank my good friend Matt, the genius behind Hockey Mayhem. He has worked tirelessly to build this awesome site for us, and I wouldn’t be writing this without him. Matt, I can’t thank you enough.

Also, I’d like to thank the Missouri Mavericks organization for everything that that have done for me over the last three years. Brent Thiessen, Madeleine Stroth, and the rest of the front office staff have been unbelievable to work with, and have treated me so well over the years.

Last but not least, I want to thank my wife and kids. While I am gone most nights, and the nights that I am home I am glued to my laptop, they have been nothing but supportive. It is your sacrifices that make me reach for the stars, in the hopes that I make you proud.

Enough of the mushy stuff. Welcome to The Sin Bin. Chirp hard and troll responsibly. Let’s have some fun, shall we?

  1. Congrats on the site launch. My name is Robbie and I am a long time friend of Matts over at HM. I was his #2 on the site for a long time before tiring of the work. I do still help Matt with web issues as I am a web designer for my day job. I used to live in the Quad Cities and go to Flames and Mallards games all the time. After a stint in South Carolina, my family now calls Tulsa home and have adopted the Oilers as our team. Just wanted to introduce myself and say I am happy to see a site like this going strong. Best of luck going forward, and I will certainly try and stop by and comment when I can. Sites like these require a strong community to flourish.
