GLENVIEW, ILL – The St. Louis Blues have recalled defenseman Jake Walman from the Chicago Wolves according to AHL transactions. Walman was a late scratch in Friday’s overtime win for the Wolves after practicing with the team in the morning. He will be replacing the ailing Vince Dunn in the lineup for the Blues as the team travels to Philadelphia and Washington this weekend to face the Flyers and Capitals, respectively.
Dunn is still sick, won’t make trip with Blues.

In 34 games with the Wolves this season, Walman has two goals and 11 assists. Friday’s recall marks his first stint in the NHL since turning pro after completing his third season with Providence College in spring of 2017.
He was replaced by Dmitry Osipov in Friday’s lineup. Osipov played in just his third game with the Wolves and is plus-2 across that span. His last game came December 2, 2017, in a 5-2 loss against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Head coach Rocky Thompson was pleased with Osipov’s ability to jump right in and play.
“It was good. It was not easy. He skated with us this morning and the anticipation was that he wasn’t going to play and then right at the last minute he had to come from his apartment ready to play. He did a good job on short notice. It was important for him and he was excited and he did well.”
Osipov proved this elation after the game.
“I was a little surprised [to play] to be honest. I was ready for it and I was really excited to finally get back on the ice.”
The Russian-born defenseman wants to become a more permanent fixture in the Wolves’ lineup.
“Yes, absolutely. That’s probably one of the biggest goals I have. Obviously, it would be nice if I could get into the NHL, but first it’s a little kind of mark for me is to settle on this team and be on the top line and play as much as I can.”
The loss of Walman marks the third defenseman who was on the opening-night roster for the Chicago Wolves currently unavailable for play. Shea Theodore was recalled to the Vegas Golden Knights October 30, 2017, and Petteri Lindbohm continues to be sidelined with an injury. On a positive note, the Wolves demonstrated Friday they can win without all-important Walman, and it will be interesting to see how Osipov continues to evolve as a player.
