WICHITA, KS – The Cincinnati Cyclones and Norfolk Admirals completed a three-player swap Saturday morning.
The key component of the trade is veteran Mike Ratchuk, who joins the Norfolk Admirals. The 27-year-old Ratchuk is in his eighth professional season and compiled 32 goals, 83 assists, and 115 points in 199 games in the ECHL thus far in his career. The Michigan State product made his pro debut with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL in 2008, and proceeded to log 10 goals and 23 helpers through 147 games over the next four seasons. This year with the Cyclones, the 5-foot-10 and 175-pounder has a goal and six points in 24 appearances.
Heading to Cincinnati are the well-traveled Tom Mele and Andrew Blazek. Mele will add some offensive scoring power for the Cyclones, after putting up 10 goals and 10 assists in 37 games in an Admirals sweater this season. For his career, Mele has 53 goals and 43 assists for 96 points in 197 games.
Blazek is joining the Cyclones for a second tour of duty and this will be his third team this season. This season, Blazek is pointless in 16 games and a -9. In 46 games as a professional, the 27-year-old has totaled a pair of goals and eight assists.
