HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – Today, the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) and The Sin Bin are announcing plans for the live announcement of the SPHL’s Challenge Round matchups.

This year’s show will be on Sunday, April 7, 2019, and will be hosted by Matthew Harding & Mike Campos from and Quad City Storm Head Coach Dave Pszenyczny. The show will air on the official SPHL Facebook Page ( and will run from 7:30-8:30 pm ET/6:30-7:30 pm CT.  The show will feature analysis and discussion of the first round pairings as teams select their opponents for the inaugural Challenge Round live during the broadcast.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to host the Challenge Round Selection Show this year. Our sincere thanks to Commissioner Doug price and the SPHL for entrusting us with this huge platform for the league,” says Matthew Harding, Editor-in-Chief of “We look forward to having the coaches of the top four teams in the SPHL on the show to make their picks, explain to fans the thought process behind the decision, as well as giving fans an early look at the playoff matchup.”

Fans are encouraged to join Harding, Campos, and coach Pszenyczny on The Sin Bin SPHL Facebook page ( for a preview show 30 minutes before the Challenge Round show, as well as a brief wrap-up show once the opening round matchups have been announced.

“The excitement and uncertainty of last season’s inaugural Challenge Round proved to be exactly what we were looking for when we adopted this format,” stated Doug Price, commissioner of the SPHL. “I think fans can expect to see much of the same again this year and we’re excited to be working with The Sin Bin on this live announcement show.”

For the Challenge Round, the top three teams making the playoffs will have the opportunity to select their first round opponent from the teams seeded 5-8. The #1 seed will select their Challenge Round opponent first. The #2 seed will then select their opponent from the remaining three teams, after which the #3 seed will select from the remaining two teams. The #4 seed will play the team that was not previously selected. All series are best-of-three.
