The winner of the league’s MVP right now was a unanimous choice among the writers and fans. The choice for MVP is Allen Americans forward Chad Costello.
Earlier this season, the 30-year-old native from Johnston, Iowa became the leading points scorer in Allen Americans history (with 368 points in the regular season and playoffs) and currently leads the ECHL with 76 points (23G, 53A). He has only been held off the scoresheet six times this season and his 53 assists are more than anyone else in the league has total points with the exception of Peter Sivak who has 56 points. In addition, he collected his 600th career point on November 23rd against the Utah Grizzlies.
“He has great vision on the ice,” said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson, which makes him such a fantastic player.”
Runners-up for Most Valuable Player among the fans include Shawn Szydlowski (FTW), Kyle Thomas (FTW), David Vallorani (BRM) and Peter Sivak (AK).
Later today, we look at who wins the Coach of the Year in the ECHL.
