With time growing thin on the ECHL’s regular-season, the races for the Kelly Cup Playoffs are heating up.

With Missouri’s loss last night at Tulsa, the Mavericks failed to clinch the Western Conference regular-season title out right, but can with one more point. The Mavericks play in Wichita tonight and Sunday evening. It is also looking like the earliest the Brabham Cup can be clinched is Wednesday night, when the Mavericks play host to the Evansville IceMen.

Toledo can clinch a playoff berth tonight with a win, an overtime or shootout loss or an Atlanta loss.

Manchester will have to wait until next week to sew up their first ever berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Saturday’s Key Matchups:

Florida and South Carolina square off for the second game of their weekend set tonight, as they continue to battle for supremacy atop the South Division. Last night, the Everblades won 4-3 in a shootout to regain a one-point lead over the Stingrays.

Elmira and Manchester will also play again tonight. The Jackals won Friday night’s game 4-2 and remain in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

There are three key matchups tonight in the Western Conference.

The Quad City Mallards look for a weekend sweep of the Fort Wayne Komets. Entering the game, the Mallards are in eighth in the Western Conference, while the Komets have a percentage points lead (tied with 77 points in the standings) over Idaho for second place in the conference.

Colorado continues to make a late-season charge up the standings. They defeated a slumping Utah Grizzlies team 4-3 Friday night and have crept to within two points of Utah for sixth position in the Western Conference.

The Tulsa Oilers will look to gain ground on Quad City, as they head to Allen to play the Americans. Tulsa has 8-5-0-0 record against Allen this season.
