With eleven days left in the regular-season, the race for spots in the Kelly Cup Playoffs are really heating up. The Missouri Mavericks finally have company in the Western Conference playoffs, as the Fort Wayne Komets joined them in the tournament last night.

Here is a look at who is in the playoffs as of Wednesday:

Teams in the Kelly Cup Playoffs:

East: Toledo Walleye, South Carolina Stingrays, Manchester Monarchs, Florida Everblades
West: Missouri Mavericks, Fort Wayne Komets

Wednesday’s Key Matchups:

In the East, the Orlando Solar Bears look to claw back into the race for 8th spot as they take on the Florida Everblades. The Solar Bears suffered a pair of costly losses this past weekend against Norfolk and are now five points back of the Elmira Jackals. With a win, the Everblades could move to within a point of the South Carolina Stingrays for the South Division lead.

In the West, the Utah Grizzlies look to leapfrog the Idaho Steelheads and take over the West Division lead with a win tonight. The Steelheads are winless in their last three games, while the Grizzlies are unbeaten in their last four. This should be a fun game between these two teams.

The Colorado Eagles look to leapfrog the Cincinnati Cyclones, and significantly damage the Tulsa Oilers’ playoff hopes with a win tonight at the BOK Center. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last five games.

Finally, in Independence, MO, the Quad City Mallards look to get their first win of the season against the Missouri Mavericks and maintain a hold on the eighth playoff spot tonight at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

Tonight’s Playoff Clinching Scenarios:

The Allen Americans can clinch a playoff berth: if Tulsa loses in regulation to Colorado

The Idaho Steelheads can clinch a playoff berth: with a win over Utah AND a regulation loss by Tulsa

Here are the Magic Numbers for clinching division titles as of Tuesday:

Division Division Leader Magic Number
East Manchester 3
North Toledo CLINCHED
South South Carolina 13
Midwest Fort Wayne 3
Central Missouri CLINCHED
West Idaho 9

The races for playoff positioning are very tight in both the eastern and western conferences. Here is a breakdown of those races:

Eastern Conference:

5 Adirondack 66 35 25 6 76 Hm v. NOR Fri, Hm v. BRM Sat & Sun

There is a four-way tie (points-wise) for positions 5-8 in the conference between the Adirondack Thunder, Wheeling Nailers, Reading Royals and Elmira Jackals. The advantage may go to Adirondack, who have three games against non-playoff teams this week. Orlando begins their tough slog this week, hosting Florida tonight before going to the Low Country this weekend for a pair against the Stingrays.

Western Conference:

Rank Team GP Wins Losses OT/SOL Pts This Week’s Games

With a win tonight, the Mallards can eliminate the Rapid City Rush and Evansville IceMen from playoff contention. The Indy Fuel’s “tragic” number would be reduced to one.
