The long, arduous summer is over and hockey is back!  Before the ECHL opens its 28th season tonight, I asked our ECHL writing team for their predictions on the division winners, conference finalists and Kelly Cup champions.

Several of us were brave enough to step out there and put our money where our mouth is.

The predictions will be saved for posterity and we’ll look at them at the end of the season.

Matthew Harding (Wichita):
Division winners: Toledo, Reading, South Carolina, Fort Wayne, Missouri, Idaho
Conference finalists: Toledo v. South Carolina  and  Fort Wayne v. Missouri

It will take 2,016 regular-season games to decide this year’s Kelly Cup playoff field and a maximum of 105 playoff games to decide one champion.
