After spotting the Idaho Steelheads the first two goals of their contest Friday night, the Alaska Aces won on the scoreboard 6-2, and on the fight sheet, as well.

It all started at the end of the second period when Daniel Moynihan hit Steelheads forward Anthony Luciani and quickly escalated from there. With both teams heading to their respective locker rooms, several fights broke out across the ice, including Charlie Dodero and Mackenze Stewart, and Travis Ewanyk and Dax Lauwers.

Here is video of the altercation, courtesy of Bob Lester:

Typically, the ECHL will hold one bench and let the other leave the ice before sending the other one, though it’s not entirely clear if there was a failure in that protocol or if players willingly left the bench in this instance.

One could make a fairly educated guess that both sides will skate light on players tonight for the finale of their three-game set at Sullivan Arena.

We’ll keep you updated on the fallout from the brawl.
