March 5 2016 CEDAR PARK TX – The Manitoba Moose were playing on back to back nights for the 17th time this season and were coming off a big win yesterday in San Antonio but today they were facing the AHL’s highest scoring team the Texas Stars and they didn’t disappoint as they hammered the Moose 6-1 in front of 5452 fans in the cozy Cedar Park Center.

Connor Hellebuyck got the start in the pipes for the Moose on back to back nights and he gave up 6 goals on 36 Stars shots.

The Moose got there lone goal on the power play off the stick of Scott Kosmachuk who scored his 14th of the season matching his total from all of last year.

The bright spot of the game was the Moose scored on the power play for the 5th consecutive game.

The Stars were led offensively by Gemel Smith who two goals his 10th and 11th of the season to go along with a helper. Jason Dickinson got his 20th , Cole Ully his 4th , Mattias Backman his 6th , Corey Kane his 4th.

Maxime Lagace was in the pipes for Texas and he stopped 25 of 26 shots to get the win.

Andrew MacWilliam of the Moose and Branden Troock of the Stars had enough of each other in the third and dropped the mitts for a spirited tilt.

The five goal spread in the loss for the Moose was the first time in 14 games that they have lost by more then one goal , it shows how much they have come along in the second half of the year.

The Moose will head home for two against the Iowa Wild starting Monday night.
