SPRINGFIELD, MA – The Springfield Thunderbirds announce on Tuesday their 2017 Promotions schedule for the remainder of the season.
“We have been very pleased with the response and support of the Greater Springfield community through the first three months of the season; the fans have come out in full force,” said Thunderbirds Executive Vice President Nathan Costa in a team press release. “We are very excited to announce our plans for the rest of the 2016-17 season, which are filled with theme nights, promotions and entertainment that will help add to the environment we are creating at the MassMutual Center, and hopefully this will start traditions for many years to come.”
The team will introduce Winning Weekdays beginning on Wednesday night January 4th when they take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. When the Thunderbirds win on that weekday game. They will be given a free ticket to the next weekday game. This promotion will end on Wednesday night April 12th when the Thunderbirds take on the Providence Bruins.
Boston Bruins Anthem Singer Rene Rancourt will sing the National Anthem on Saturday night January 7th when the Thunderbirds take on the Providence Bruins. Rancourt will sign autographs for fans after his performance.
On Friday night February 10th, it will be Throwback Night with “A Touch Of Flair”. A wrestling icon will make his way to Springfield that night. WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair makes an appearance. He will drop the ceremonial puck and sign autographs for fans when the Thunderbirds take on their I-91 rivals, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Wooooooooooo!
Hometown Heroes night will be held on Saturday night February 25th. The Thunderbirds will honor all first responders to police officers, firefighters, EMT’s along as other emergency personnel.
There will be Bruce Landon Legacy Night on Friday, March 3rd when the Thunderbirds take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Landon has made hockey contributions to the City of Springfield over the years. Fans attending the games on that evening will receive a Bruce Landon bobblehead.
The Thunderbirds will host their first annual Pink in the Rink night on Saturday, March 11th. The Thunderbirds will wear specialty jerseys and playing on a pink ice surface in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness. After the game, these specialty jerseys will be going up for auction to benefit Rays Of Hope.
Fan Appreciation Weekend presented by MGM Springfield on will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 14th and 15th to end the regular season.
