LAFAYETTE, La. — The Knoxville Ice Bears, winners of four straight games, returns to our PowerFive rankings for the first time in three weeks. Also, for the first time this season, the Huntsville Havoc – having dropped seven of their last eight games – have also dropped out of the poll.

Meanwhile, the split decision between the Birmingham Bulls and Macon Mayhem keep the top two teams unchanged from last week. The Peoria Rivermen remain in third despite being the only team remaining without a regulation loss.

The Rivermen’s strength of schedule – by far the easiest in the league – is the main factor keeping them down in our rankings. The only game this season against a team with a winning record was their second game of the season against 1-0-0 Quad City.  According to the current standings, the next game Peoria plays against a team over .500 will be when the Rivermen travel to central Georgia on January 31st to face off against the Mayhem.

Stay tuned each week throughout the SPHL season for future SPHL PowerFive polls!
