LAFAYETTE, LA — We have a split decision atop the SPHL Power Rankings this week. Matching five-game winning streaks by the Peoria Rivermen and Pensacola Ice Flyers have vaulted the teams to the top of this week’s SPHL writers’ poll. Mike Campos and Matt Harding went with the Ice Flyers, while Jimmy Gentry and Justin Rieber went with the Rivermen on the strength of their weekend sweep of the Huntsville Havoc.

The Mississippi RiverKings’ recent EHCL callups have clearly hurt their performances last week, and last week’s top team drops sharply down the rankings to fourth. The Evansville Thunderbolts move up a spot after a strong weekend, but could be affected by the departure of Justin MacDonald to ECHL Adirondack.

Moving down the poll, the rest of the rankings are mostly unchanged except for Roanoke and Fayetteville swapping the eighth and ninth positions.
