Last night, the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated the Pensacola Ice Flyers, 5-4, in a wild affair. Well-traveled ECHL emergency backup netminder Brent Troyan made his first SPHL start for Pensacola, forcing the Ice Flyers to open up offensively. The Flyers made a game of it, rapidly answering Knoxville’s scores. The Ice Bears extend their win streak to six games, and have the rest of the weekend off.

As fun of a game it was to watch offensively, fans were treated to a great middleweight scrap between two old rivals. Knoxville’s Dennis Sicard and Pensacola’s David Segal, himself a former Ice Bear, had their 11th fight over seven seasons. This may be the last time that Segal and Sicard square off, so go ahead and enjoy.
