Today is the final edition of our training camp updates for this year. The final league-mandated roster cutdown to 19 players is due into the league at 3:00 pm ET on Wednesday.

Our season premiere episode of the Inside the SPHL Podcast will be live on The Sin Bin mobile app at 9:00 pm ET. Joining us will be our SPHL writing staff, who have been done a fantastic job bringing you all of the news and insights from training camp. Thursday and Friday will showcase our season previews for our SPHL teams.

Finally, none of this is possible without the amazing cooperation from the media directors from across the league. Special thanks go out to Joe Stroud in Birmingham, Tommy Pecoraro in Evansville, Shawn Bednard in Fayetteville, Alex von Keudell in Macon, Brad Kupiec in Peoria, Brian Rothenburger in the Quad Cities, and Brian Gardner in Roanoke. I can’t thank y’all enough for the tireless work you do! I’ve always maintained the SPHL has the best media guys in pro hockey and y’all have never proven me wrong.

One more person to thank who cannot go unnoticed. SPHL vice president Doug Price has been instrumental in assisting us in getting whatever information we need from the league office. Thanks, Pricey – you’re a class act!

Now regarding the updates, I gave the staff the day off so they can work on their season previews and prepare for their debut on the podcast. Wednesday’s podcast is going to showcase our SPHL writing team. They’re going to give their insights about training camp and give their previews for the upcoming season. We’ll have predictions for the upcoming season and, for the first time ever, we’ll hold an SPHL fantasy draft!

When the Mississippi RiverKings folded up shop after the end of last season, one free-agent who stuck out as one of the top pickups for this season was center Dillan Fox. The forward scored 34 points (23G/11A) over 32 games before being called up to ECHL Reading last season. Fox signed with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs today, solidifying what could be the league’s deepest set of forwards. Fox enters his third season in the league after spending his entire career with Mississippi, reuniting with former RiverKings teammate Brad Barone.

Opening night is right around the corner. Are y’all ready to do that hockey?
