ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando Solar Bears announced the club has agreed to terms with forward Adam Brace for the 2016-17 season.
“Adam is a proven difference-maker at the professional level,” Solar Bears head coach Anthony Noreen said. “He has the ability to create opportunities for himself and his teammates through his speed, shot and offensive instincts. His experience and ability will be a great addition to our group.”
Brace, 28, joins the Solar Bears after spending the 2015-16 season with Heilbronner Falken in Germany’s DEL2, where he led the team in scoring by recording 63 points (28g-35a) and 50 penalty minutes in 52 games.
In the 2014-15 season, Brace led the Florida Everblades in scoring with 72 points (35g-37a) in 71 games, and was named to the All-ECHL Second Team. While playing in Estero, Brace was briefly teammates with current Solar Bears forward Johnny McInnis. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound forward has played 136 games of North American professional hockey, having logged 120 points (53g-67a) and 60 penalty minutes with the Everblades, Charlotte Checkers, Cincinnati Cyclones, Brideport Sound Tigers and Stockton Thunder.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about playing in Orlando. It’s not a very hard sell to move to Florida and be a part of the Maple Leafs system, which is one of the best in sports,” Brace said. “My family and I look forward to being a part of the Solar Bears community and getting started on our journey to the Kelly Cup.”
Prior to turning pro, the native of Cobden, Ontario played collegiate hockey at Canisius College during the 2008-09 season, where he was coached by former IHL Solar Bears player Dave Smith and posted totals of 23 points (6g-17a) and 20 penalty minutes in 33 games for the Golden Griffins before transferring to Robert Morris University, where he played from 2010-13. While with the Colonials, Brace racked up 92 points (40g-52a) and 77 penalty minutes in 102 contests.
