ORLANDO, FL – One of the men responsible for bringing hockey back to Orlando in 2011 has announced he is leaving the team effective immediately.
Late Tuesday, the team announced Solar Bears President and Chief Operating Officer Jason Siegel has resigned in order to pursue other interests. Majority Owner and Chairman, Joe Haleski, will assume Siegel’s day-to-day duties.
During Siegel’s tenure with the club, the Solar Bears have made the Kelly Cup Playoffs twice, hosted an ECHL All-Star Game (2015) and had an average attendance of 6,365 in each of the four seasons since their revival in 2012-13.
“We have a tremendous front office staff and coaching staff and we expect big things from them for next season and in many seasons to come,” Siegel said. “We were disappointed that we didn’t make the playoffs last season and disappointed that we didn’t reach our potential but confident that the pieces are in place to make a strong championship playoff run this upcoming season.”
“Jason and I have been friends for 30 years,” Haleski said. “He will continue to retain a minority interest in the team. I look forward to working with the organization that Jason has led over the past four seasons.”
The search for Siegel’s replacement will begin immediately.
