RAPID CITY, SD — After an impressive four-game stand against the Utah Grizzlies this past week, sporting a 3-1 record and 2-1 at home, a pair of Rush players are honored by the ECHL for their outstanding contributions.
Peter Sivak earned ECHL Player of the Week for his efforts from January 15-22. Over that week, Sivak tallied five goals along with six assists and was a +6 on the ice. In those games, he secured the game-winner in the 3-1 contest on Monday, three goals and an assist in Friday’s 4-3 OT win, and a goal and three assists in the 8-3 route of Utah on Saturday. Sivak also registered a pair of assists in Sunday’s 6-3 loss to end the series.
For the season, Sivak has 35 points (14 goals and 21 assists) in his 32 games with the Rush.
Coupled with the offensive honors, Rush netminder Adam Vay was awarded the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for his efforts from January 15-22. Vay was unbeaten posting a 3-0-0 record with a 2.29 goals-against average and a 0.951 save percentage in his three appearances against the Utah Grizzlies. Vay stopped 26 shots during the 3-1 win on Monday, 46 shots in their 4-3 OT win on Friday, and a staggering 53 shots during Saturday’s 8-3 route for the “Rush Fights Cancer” Night.
This season, Vay has a 7-8-1 record over 17 games with the Rush and a 3.64 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. He also saw time between the pipes in a pair of games with the AHL Iowa Wild this season.
The Rush hit the road for their annual “Stock Show Roadtrip” this Wednesday at the Allen Americans. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
