BOISE, ID – The Royals fell to the Steelheads for the second night in a row to go 1-for-3 to begin their 8 game road trip.
The game did not start well for the Royals as Travis Ewanyk scored just 1:07 into the game. Penalties continue to be a problem for Reading as Anthony Luciani netted the Steelheads’ second goal of the game during a 5-on-3 power play.
The Royals had no short in chances during the second period, racking up 15 shots on goal. Idaho’s goalie Landon Bow looked spectacular, making some big saves to hold on to their 2-0 lead.
The Royals finally got a boost as Florian Lberer put them on the board with 9:30 left in the third. Reading continued to pepper the net with shots but Bow stood tall throughout the game; facing 40 shots on goal and only letting in one. The game was sealed after Joe Faust scored on the empty net to make the score 3-1 for Idaho.
The Royals’ special teams continue to be a problem. Reading, who started this road trip first in the league on the power play, went 0/8 and allowed a power play goal to the Steelheads, which ended up becoming the go-ahead goal.
Reading continues their road trip against the Colorado Eagles at 9:05 PM EST/7:05 PM MST.
