TUCSON, AZ – In the latest update to media on Monday, Tucson Roadrunners captain Craig Cunningham remains in critical but stable condition after collapsing during pregame warmup Saturday night.
Arizonasports.com reports Cunningham convulsed after hitting the ice and chest compressions were performed by Emergency Medical Technicians and Roadrunners doctors.
“As we move forward, he’s in great, great hands,” Roadrunners Doug Soetaert said, but acknowledged that much is still unknown. “It’s a changing target every day,” he said.
Saturday’s game against the Manitoba Moose was postponed, and so far no makeup date has been announced.
The Roadrunners were expected to play the San Diego Gulls tonight and Wednesday night, but those have been postponed.
“Craig is a highly respected player and team leader in our league,” said David Andrews, AHL President and Chief Executive Officer. “The thoughts and prayers of the entire AHL family remain with Craig, his family, and his teammates.”
Everyone in the hockey community is sending well wishes for Craig and hoping he will make a full recovery.
