ALLENTOWN, PA – The Providence Bruins took on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL center in Lehigh Valley. The Bruins looked to avenge a few losses they had suffered at the hands of Lehigh Valley in recent weeks.

Malcolm Subban started in net for the Bruins and was opposed by Martin Ouellette for the Phantoms. The game started out with both teams trading chances early, but neither team was able to establish control in their offensive zone. Both goalies stood tall and kept their teams in the game. Neither team could find the back of the net as the first came to an end with the shots 11 to 6 in favor of the Bruins.

The Bruins picked up right where they left off in the first generating more and more opportunities on the Phantoms net. Providence struck first when Brandon DeFazio found the back of the net assisted by Tommy Cross and Austin Czarnik. The Bruins would continue their pressure but couldn’t add to their lead. The second period ended with the Bruins leading 1-0 and the shots 22 to 11 for the Bruins.

The third period started with the more of the same for the Providence Bruins who were just pounding  away at the Phantoms defense. But offense wasn’t the whole story, Subban was solid in net for the Bruins turning aside all of the Phantoms chances. Seth Griffith extended the Bruins led on a goal that was assisted by Chris Breen and Chris Casto. The Bruins would convert on that power play off a Anton Blidh shot assisted by Colby Cave and Matt Irwin. The Phantom would make a few late pushes but Subban held them off, enroute to a 3-0 shutout.

Third star Seth Griffith had the second goal of the game for the Bruins and helped them get the victory. Second star Malcolm Subban, stopped all 18 shots he faced for the victory.  First star Brandon Defazio, got the scoring started for the Bruins and had the game winning goal over the Phantoms.

The Bruins will return home to take on the Portland Pirates at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Friday night.
