WILKES-BARRE, PA — On Tuesday afternoon, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins announced they had assigned 21 players to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. With the reduction, Pittsburgh’s training camp roster now stands at 26.

Headlining the list was Zach Aston-Reese. Aston-Reese was a finalist for last season’s Hobey Baker Award, given to the best player in college hockey. After his senior season at Northeastern, he joined the Penguins’ for the stretch run and collected eight points in 10 games.

Notes: Penguins’ Head Coach Clark Donatelli says goaltender Sean Maguire is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
