O’Had Gets First Coaching Win as Mavs Say Goodbye to 2020

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – The Kansas City Mavericks left 2020 in the dust with a much needed 4-1 win over the Tulsa Oilers. The Mavericks hit the ice with high energy, high impact style of play they had yet to show this season. They dominated the play and were rewarded with their first win in the 2020-21 season, and the first pro win for Mavs head coach Tad O’Had

The Mavericks came out strong in the first period. Loren Ulett was first on the board with an assist by Giorgio Estephan. Lane Scheidl tickled the twine 78 seconds later, with help from Brodie Reid and Estephan.

Ian McNulty scored for Tulsa in the second period, assisted by Austin McEneny. But the Mavs quickly responded, taking all of 62 seconds before Rob Bordson lit the lamp,  assists on Bordson’s second lamplighter of the year went to Reid and CJ Eick

Estephan scored the only goal in the third period, giving him three points for the game. Bryan Lemos and Scheidl each picked up apples on that goal, giving Scheidl two points for the night.

Andrew Shortridge stopped 30 shots in an impressive performance and picking up his first win in a Mavs uniform.

Tulsa and Kansas City will finish out their two-game set tonight at Cable Dahmer Arena, face-off is set for 7:05 pm.
