With the release of the brand new NHL 17 video game, The Sin Bin decided to simulate the results of this year’s AHL and ECHL seasons. Since the final rosters won’t be determined till closer to the season and we are very impatient, we decided to simulate through this season’s schedule, conference, and division alignment, with last year’s roster.
Today, we are doing the AHL simulation and here are the results. Click right here for the results of our ECHL simulation.
According to our simulation, the Grand Rapids Griffins will defeat the Syracuse Crunch in 6 games in the Calder Cup Finals. Now how far off was our simulation from last season’s playoffs?
For starters, Grand Rapids only made it to the 2nd round while the Crunch didn’t even make the playoffs. The Cleveland Monsters who won the Calder Cup didn’t make the playoffs in our simulation while the runner-up team, the Hershey Bears, made it but lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Down below are the simulated divisions and conference standings.
Stay with The Sin Bin because when we get closer to the season and teams decide this season’s final rosters, we will go through the ECHL and AHL simulations for this coming season.
