BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Manitoba Moose were looking to get back in the win column after suffering a minor set back in San Diego over the weekend. With the early start time, both teams were out of routine as it was field trip day in Bakersfield for all the school kids. Manitoba spoiled the party, upending the Condors with a 4-1 road win.
Eric Comrie started in the pipes for the Moose and turned in yet another stellar performance, stopping 29 of 30 shots thrown his way by the Condors, including holding down the fort in a 12 shot first-period barrage by the home team.
The Moose got going when JC Lipon scored his 2nd of the season under two minutes into the second period after some work from Dan DeSalvo. The same two players would be back at it a few minutes later as they reversed the role and were shorthanded this time as Lipon set up DeSalvo for his 2nd of the year.
With the Moose up 2-0, DeSalvo was in the box for slashing and the Condors capitalized as Joey LaLeggia scored his 1st of the season to make it 2-1.
Later in the second, DeSalvo made up for his earlier penalty, scoring his third goal of the season in as many games and second of the game to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.
Manitoba added to its lead as super pest Brendan Lemieux notched his third goal of the season after some great work from Scott Glennie and Jack Roslovic who had the puck on a string before making a sweet dish.
After being outplayed in the opening frame, the Moose took over the game and played a solid road game and got the two points.
Manitoba will head to Arizona for a Friday night battle with the Tucson Roadrunners.
