WINNIPEG, MB – The first visit to Winnipeg for the Stockton Heat wasn’t a memorable one as they were handed a 3-2 loss for their second straight loss against the Manitoba Moose at MTS Centre.
The Moose came out flying in this game and owned the offensive and physical play early on. Ryan Olsen and Mitchell Heard had a disagreement that turned into both of them dropping the mitts and going off for a five minute break.
Scoring for the Moose were Jake Baker who notched his 1st career AHL goal, Darren Kramer scored his 6th on a beauty tip in, and Moose captain John Albert ripped a bullet for his 12th to round out the scoring.
Connor Hellebuyck who was riding a two game shutout streak heading into the game. It came to an end at 169:34 although he did stop 19 of 21 shots to get another win.
The Heat got goals from Heard — his 3rd of the season — and from Kenny Agostino, who got his 19th of the season.
The Moose played solid to get the two points and were under some pressure as the Heat mounted a late comeback attempt.
Manitoba will have a couple days off before welcoming the Charlotte Checkers to town this weekend.
Moose fans will probably see some familiar faces back in the line up this weekend, as the Winnipeg Jets will have some healthy bodies back in their line up.
