The Missouri Mavericks announced on Wednesday that they have signed goalie Jason Missiaen. The 6’8″, 198lb former fourth round pick of the Montreal Canadiens has spent the last few seasons hopping back and forth between the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL and the Greenville Road Warriors (now Swamp Rabbits) of the ECHL.

While logging some considerable minutes and acquiring a great deal of experience, the 25 year old tendy has middle of the road numbers, with his best season coming his rookie year in Greenville (22-13-5, 2.71 GAA, .916 save %).

This is an interesting turn of events, as most thought that the goalie situation was set with Josh Robinson returning from last season, and another goalie rumored to be assigned by Bridgeport. Head Coach Richard Matvichuk has now created a competition for the second goalie spot, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

With training camp right around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Matvichuk has any other late additions to stir the pot.
