The Missouri Mavericks continue to add to their roster for the upcoming campaign, announcing the signings of wingers Andrew Johnston and Scott Allen on Tuesday.
Johnston joins Richard Matvichuk’s squad bringing 160 games of professional experience with him. The 6’1″, 178lb forward appeared in 42 games for the Reading Royals last season, chalking up 20 points. He also spent 14 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL. Johnston has been called up to the AHL in each of the last three seasons.
Allen made his professional debut last season, appearing in nine games for the Colorado Eagles. Prior to that, he finished a successful four-year collegiate campaign at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, tallying 75 points in 129 games. The 6’3″, 207lb frame of Allen gives Matvichuk another big body to compliment the coach’s aggressive, physical style of play.
The Mavericks roster currently sits at 16 players. The team is still expected to get a handful of players from Bridgeport before opening up training camp. While there aren’t many more moves expected to be announced, Matvichuk will bring in additional players to solidify all, if any, weaknesses that he sees once the team hits the ice.
