The Missouri Mavericks have acquired forward Eric Scheid from the Florida Everblades in exchange for the ECHL playing rights to defenseman Bryce Aneloski.
Scheid made his professional debut with the Portland Pirates of the AHL in the 2015-16 season after a successful collegiate career at Penn State University where he tallied 38 goals and 39 assists in 101 games for the Nittany Lions over the course of three seasons. In 24 games with the Everblades this season, the 5-10, 174lb forwards has six goals and three assists.
Aneloski joined the Mavericks prior to the 2015-16 season and was a big part of their Brabham Cup champion team, notching 28 points and an impressive +22. In nine games this season, Aneloski registered three points before signing a PTO with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. After an impressive tryout period, the Condors signed Aneloski to a Standard Player Contract last week.
While it is tough to part with a solid defenseman that has been such a big part of the organization, credit is due to Coach John-Scott Dickson for getting some kind of return in exchange for a player that is not likely to return to the ECHL this season or anytime soon. Scheid will provide additional depth up front for the Mavericks and will have the opportunity to log regular minutes considering the uneven offensive performance that the Mavericks have been prone to fall into at times.
The Mavericks will face the Cincinnati Cyclones Wednesday night at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in the first of a three-game set with the visitors from the Buckeye State. Faceoff is at 7:05pm CST.
