MOLINE, IL – The Quad City Mallards continued their road woes Wednesday night, losing 4-1 to the Missouri Mavericks. This was the first of four games in a five day stretch for the Mallards, the next three being played Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at home.

Alex Gudbranson scored on Josh Robinson just 57 seconds into the game, Matt Neal and Kevin Henderson assisting. This was only Gudbranson’s second Mallards goal, his first being scored against the Alaska Aces on November 20.

Just under six minutes later, Sebastien Sylvestre scored on Brody Hoffman while the Mallards were shorthanded. Rocco Carzo and Bryce Aneloski received tallies on the score sheet for assisting.

Henderson was laid out from a hit by CJ Ludwig late in the first period. He was able to skate to the locker room by himself, but did not return to the game. No updates on his condition were available.

Carter Verhaeghe found twine behind Hoffman at 10:53 of the middle period, Tyler Barnes and Jesse Root assisting. Verhaeghe then assisted on Barnes’ goal at 46 seconds of the final period.

The Mavericks’ power play did well tonight, capitalizing again at 18:06 of the third period. The final goal was scored by Root, with Kane Lafranchise and Verhaeghe helping.

Hoffman made 19 saves on 23 shots for Robinson’s 25 saves on 26 shots.

The Mallards were down two men at the beginning of the game, Raphael Bussieres playing with the Iowa Wild after being recalled on Tuesday and Olivier Archambault sitting with a lower body injury. No word has been released on when Archambault is expected to return to play, or when Bussieres will be returned to the Mallards.

The Mallards’ have a road record of 0-6-2, their season record being 8-7-3. The Mallards are still tied with the Indy Fuel for second place in the Midwest Division with 19 points a piece, the Fuel were defeated by the Wichita Thunder earlier in the evening.

The Mallards next see action on Black Friday at home, when the team will be donning special Black out sweaters which will be auctioned after the game on Saturday. Puck drop is at 7:05 for Friday and Saturday’s games.
