ALLEN, TX – The two-time Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans announced the club has signed forwards Chris Crane and Tanner Eberle to contracts for the 2016-17 season.
Chris Crane, who was the Americans best point-per-game player last year until injury cut his season short, will return for a third year with the Americans. The US-born forward and native of West Chester, Ohio, had 21 goals in just 41 games last season for the Americans. At 6’1 and 195 pounds, Crane is expected to center the Americans top line this season.
“I’m excited to be back with the Americans,” said Crane. “I can’t wait to see my teammates and all the great fans as we start our drive for five”
Crane played his college hockey at Ohio State University, where the former Buckeye played three seasons before beginning his pro career with the former Worcester Sharks.
Allen also inked forward Tanner Eberle to a new deal for the 2016-17 season. Eberle had 18 points in 40 games last season with the Quad City Mallards. He played in five games with Allen in the 2014-15 season, before getting called up to Bridgeport of the AHL and never returned.
He played his junior hockey with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL, from 2011-2014. He averaged just under 43 points a season, in Moose Jaw, including 33 goals and 23 assists in 2014-2015, which was third overall on the team.
The Americans will have another player announcement this Saturday at the first Open House of the summer from Noon to 4:00 PM at Allen Event Center.
