The Allen Americans announced a pair of players who have re-signed for the Kelly Cup title defense next season. The announcements come as part of the team’s Select-A-Seat event and equipment sale.
One of those coming back is defenseman Kevin Young, who was a stalwart on the Americans blue line last season. It will be Young’s third season in the ECHL and 11th as a pro. Young appeared in 71 regular season games last season, collecting 44 points (8G, 36A.) In the Kelly Cup playoffs, Young played in all 25 games and tallied 12 assists and was a plus-10.
The second player announced was goaltender Riley Gill, who was a vital piece to the Americans championship winning puzzle last season. In 2014-15, he posted a career high in wins (33), had a 2.59 goals against average and .914 save percentage. In the Kelly Cup playoffs, Gill tied his career high in wins (13) and posted his third-best playoff goals against average (2.41). Next season will be Gill’s sixth season as a professional.
Young and Gill now join Chad Costello as the announced players for next season.
