In The Corners Episode #95: Go West and Into the Sunset

On the final edition of the In The Corners Podcast with C.C. Hawkley and Sean O’Brien, the boys recap the signings and re-signings of the AHL’s Pacific Division (with some friends, of course).

INTRO

The AHL Return to Play task force met on Saturday, December 26 and the Board of Governors meets on Wednesday, December 30. Discussing an intriguing article by AHL correspondent Patrick Williams, C.C. and Sean wonder what comes next for the American Hockey League in 2021.

TUCSON ROADRUNNERS

Our two co-hosts discuss the Roadrunners’ forward free agent addition Dryden Hunt and returning defensemen Jordan Gross and Kyle Capobianco

SCOTT MACDONALD (COLORADO HOCKEY NOW EAGLES REPORTER)

Joining from C.C.’s other podcast — Colorado Eagles: Tape to Tape — Scott talks three returning and three new faces joining the Eagles for the 2020-21 campaign

SAN DIEGO GULLS

Re-signed forward Andrew Poturalski, familiar face Andy Welinski, and new centerman Vinni Lettieri round out the three highlight signings for San Diego this off-season

PAIGE SIEWERT (STOCKTON HEAT & CALGARY FLAMES PROSPECTS)

Regarding one of three NHL-AHL affiliations crossing the USA-Canada border, Alberta native Paige Siewert talks the return of Glenn Gawdin, Byron Froese, and Buddy Robinson (and new defenseman Alexander Petrovic) for the Heat while also touching on the departure of centerman Alan Quine to division-rival Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD CONDORS

Speaking of the Condors, three more notable players from Bakersfield’s off-season’s signing spree — a goaltender, defenseman, and forward

ONTARIO REIGN

A pair of returning right wingers (Matt Luff and Carl Grundstrom), a former captain of the Colorado Eagles (Mark Alt), and an award-winning netminder (Troy Grosenick) all grace the list of C.C. and Sean for Ontario’s standout signings

HENDERSON SILVER KNIGHTS

The newest team in the AHL boasts Vegas-contracted players re-upping for another season playing with a VGK affiliate, while the inter-division signing of Tomas Jurco and Hartford-liberated Danny O’Regan come to play in the desert next year

KEVIN LACY (SAN JOSE BARRACUDA “VODCAST” HOST, TEAL TOWN USA)

For the last of the eight Pacific Division teams, Kevin Lacy joins the program to discuss three of the San Jose Sharks / Barracuda skaters gearing up to (hopefully) play in 2020-21…and also debates with Sean if Jayden Halbgewachs is an “elite” skater or not

CONCLUSION

C.C. and Sean say one final goodbye as they leave the In The Corners Podcast for a new endeavor
