The Idaho Steelheads, ECHL affiliate of the Dallas and Texas Stars, have signed forward Andrew Carroll for the 2015-16 season. Carroll returns to the ECHL after taking a year off in 2014-15.
Carroll, a Univ. of Minnesota-Duluth alum, last played in the ECHL in 2013-14 under an AHL contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack, splitting time with the Greenville Road Warriors and the Bakersfield Condors. In 23 games with Greenville, Carroll had two assists and 54 penalty minutes. In mid-December that season, Hartford re-assigned Carroll to the Condors where he scored 16 points in 50 games, adding 118 penalty minutes.
This marks Carroll’s second stint with Idaho as he previously played there in 2012-13. Carroll had a successful campaign with Idaho, playing 36 games and scoring 31 points before getting called up to the Connecticut Whale where he finished off the season.
Carroll has also spent time with the ECHL Charlotte Checkers, plus the Abbotsford Heat, Hershey Bears, and the Peoria Rivermen of the AHL.
In 188 career regular season ECHL games, Carroll has 62 goals and 49 assists with 327 PIM. In 50 career Kelly Cup Playoff games, Carroll has scored 11 goals and 19 assists. Carroll has also played in 148 career AHL games, scoring 5 goals and 14 assists.
