The team announced this afternoon they have signed forward Ryan Tesink for the coming season.

“Ryan is a gritty, hard working player that can add a multi-dimensional approach to our team,” said Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. “He is strong on the forecheck and is solid defensively. I look forward to a great season from Ryan.”

Tesink started last season with the Quad City Mallards, after being assigned by the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. With Quad City, he appeared in 37 games and tallying 16 (6G, 10A) points. He was reassigned by the Wolves to the Alaska Aces on February 3, where he played in 28 games for the Aces and collecting 12 points (3G, 9A).

“I’m very excited to have a fresh start with the Wichita Thunder organization,” commented Tesink. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about Malcolm Cameron and am looking forward to coming in and helping the team win hockey games.”

The 6-foot, 185-pound forward was a sixth round draft pick (#162) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He hails from Saint John, New Brunswick and prior to turning pro, spent four years with the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. He helped the Sea Dogs to back-to-back QMJHL President’s Cup titles in 2011 and 2012, recording 152 points (51g, 101a) in 183 career games. Tesink served as an alternate captain for both Saint John (2012-13) and Blainville-Boisbriand (2013-14).

The Thunder roster for next season sits at 14 players, more players still to be announced. If you’ve missed it, here is a breakdown of the players announced by position so far:
