INDIANAPOLIS – With training camp starting on Friday morning, the Indy Fuel will see 27 players make their way onto the ice at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. A total of 19 are currently under contract for the 2017-18 season, while eight players will be attending on a tryout basis.

Indy’s camp roster consists of 15 forwards, ten defensemen and two goalies. Attending camp on tryout contracts will be forwards Austin Hervey, Ryan Siiro, Joseph Widmar and Will Smith, defensemen Andrew Darrigo and Brandon Rumble, as well as goaltenders Étienne Marcoux and Indianapolis native Tyler Green. Widmar and Smith earned training camp invites from attending the Indy Fuel Free Agent Camp back in August.

Hervey and Widmar are familiar with the Indianapolis area. Both players played for the USHL’s Indiana Ice during the 2012-13 season. This will be the second time that Hervey will don the Fuel jersey, the 6-1 forward signed an amateur tryout agreement in March of last season.

Tyler Green, a native of Noblesville, IN, is no stranger to the Coliseum. Growing up in Indianapolis, Green played his youth hockey for the AAA Indianapolis Checkers at the old Pepsi Coliseum, before the renovations.

In addition to the eight tryout contracts, the team has three players that are currently attending AHL training camps. Defensemen Nolan Descoteaux and Garrett Clarke remain with the Rockford IceHogs while Travis Armstrong received a tryout offer with the Toronto Marlies.

After falling 4-3 to the Milwaukee Admirals in their first preseason game Thursday night, Rockford released Matt Rupert, Ryan Rupert, Geoff Walker, Cam Reid, and Zach Miskovic from their tryout agreements. Those players will report back to Indy for training camp.

After the end of training camps, all players will report back to Indy along with a couple of AHL contracted players.
