FORT WAYNE, IN — It was win or be eliminated for the Fort Wayne Komets on Friday night as they faced the Toledo Walleye in game four of the Central Division Finals.
Jamie Schaafsma led the charge at 3:13 in the first when he got help from Cody Sol and Mason Baptista. Gabriel Desjardins continued his hot streak by getting his fifth goal in the playoffs when he got the puck past Toledo goalie, Jeff Lerg at 15:08. The second period had no goals between either team, but it was full of penalties. The Komets had three penalties including Dan Milan, who got hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct when he threw a stick. Toledo also had three penalties in the period. It was a slow period for the Komets as they only added four shots on goal while Toledo accumulated 11.
Shawn Szydlowski scored only his second goal of the playoffs at 10:02 on a power play with help from Kyle Thomas and Bobby Shea. Trevor Cheek and Nagle helped Schaafsma seal the deal at 16:43, giving the Komets the win and forcing game five in Toledo.
