ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades won both games against the Atlanta Gladiators during its just-completed homestand at Germain Arena. The ‘Blades ended the weekend on top of the South division with a 2-0-0 record.
The ‘Blades opened the 20th Anniversary on Friday night with a 4-3 win before claiming the organizations 800th regular season victory Saturday night 3-1 in front of 5,281 fans.
On Friday night, Nelson Armstrong, John McCarron, Joe Cox and Stephen MacAulay all registered tallies against Gladiators goaltender Matt Ginn. Ginn spent his first professional season with the ‘Blades.
Thomas Frazee, Darby Llewellyn, and Phil Lane all found a way to send pucks into the back of the net past ‘Blades netminder Martin Ouellette. Ouellette earned the win over Ginn stopping 18 of the 21 shots faced.
Saturday goals by Michael Kirkpatrick, Mitchell Heard, and Steven Lorentz defeated Gladiators goaltender Dan Vladar in the first two frames to secure the victory.
Forward Colin Jacobs netted the only goal against ‘Blades netminder Callum Booth who earned the second star of the night.
The Everblades will take to the road for their next set of games against the Atlanta Gladiators on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21.
