ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades (12 pts) added four points during their three-game series against the Indy Fuel this past week to remain on top of the South Division with a 6-1-0 record.
“Overall, we were happy to collect four points out of the possible six over the week against Indy. They were a great test for our guys,” said associate head coach Tad O’Had. “Although we had a lackluster effort on Friday night, we felt our response Saturday was excellent. Our defense was able to make responsible reads and shut the door. We have continued to see strong goaltending from Martin Ouellette.”
After claiming a 3-1 victory at home Wednesday night, the ‘Blades dropped Friday night’s battle 5-2 with a strong showing from the Fuels special teams. The loss was the ‘Blades first of the season.
On Saturday night, ‘Blades Stephen MacAulay and John McCarron both tallied two goals, while Ouellette made 21 saves to lift the ‘Blades to a 4-2 win against the Fuel.
“We feel the team showed us an excellent detailed and defensive effort Saturday, we will need to carry this into the upcoming game against Orlando,” said O’Had.
The ‘Blades will now travel to the Amway Center to take on in-state rivals the Orlando Solar Bears both Wednesday, November 1 and Saturday, November 4.
