ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades went into Game Two of their seven-game playoff series with Orlando knowing their margin for error was gone.
Florida dropped Game 1 on Wednesday at Germain Arena, meaning a loss Friday would give the Solar Bears a chance to win the series on their home ice.
The Bears opened up the scoring less than four minutes into the first. On the attack, Joe Perry fed Ryan Moore who buried the puck to give Orlando the early lead.
Later in the first period, Everblades forward John McCarron appeared to tie the game but Bears goaltender Ryan Massa‘s mask had come off, so the officials waved off the goal.
The Blades would eventually tie the game in the middle frame as Matt Berry weaved through traffic and lit the lamp for the third time this postseason. But just 33 seconds later, defenseman Eric Baier helped Orlando regain the lead.
Early in the third, Everblades forward Michael Kirkpatrick tied the game once more, but the Solar Bears’ Justin Buzzeo scored the game-winner at the 11:08 mark.
The Blades worst fear came true have been realized as Orlando won, 3-2.
Game Three will be Thursday night in Orlando.
