For the second time in two weeks, there is a new team at the top of the ECHL Power Rankings!
The Fort Wayne Komets assume the pole position for the first time this season, thanks to a ten-game unbeaten streak that dates back to January 27. During the streak, the Komets offense has been red-hot, piling up 56 goals, while allowing just 26. Additionally, the Komets have defeated three teams currently in playoff positions; Cincinnati, Wheeling (twice) and Wichita (twice).
While continuing to be the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Florida Everblades slipped back to second in this week’s rankings after a 1-2-0 week against the Tulsa Oilers and Kansas City Mavericks. The Everblades still maintain a five-point lead over South Carolina in the race for the South Division, and a seven-point lead over Manchester in the race for the top seed in the conference.
Rounding out the top-five are the Toledo Walleye, South Carolina Stingrays & Manchester Monarchs.
At the bottom of the rankings, we find the Brampton Beast, Quad City Mallards, Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Jacksonville Icemen and Rapid City Rush.
At the conclusion of play each weekend, our writing team will rank all 27 ECHL teams, and the average of those rankings makes up the “Composite” ranking. Unlike rankings we have done in the past, you will now get to see how our ECHL writers voted. The rankings will debut every Tuesday afternoon right here at The Sin Bin. Our previous rankings are at the bottom of the page.
