WICHITA, Kan. – After a week’s hiatus, the ECHL Power 10 is back. This week, there’s been a subtle change in the positioning of the top three teams.
The ‘Clones continue to hum along, with eight wins in their last ten games, while the Newfoundland Growlers have seven wins in their last ten games. Matt Thomas’ team continues to be paced by Jesse Schultz, who has 13 points in his last 10 games. In net, the two-headed monster has taken a big hit, with Jonas Johansson going down for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs with an injury. In his stead, Michael Houser continues to be superb, going unbeaten in regulation over his last five starts. There is little doubt that the playoff fate of the Cyclones rests on Houser’s shoulders.
Elsewhere, the Idaho Steelheads have moved into the fourth position in the Power 10, despite a 4-5-1-0 record in their last 10 games. Toledo does not appear to be handling the loss of T.J. Hensick to the AHL well, having lost three of five games since he signed with the San Jose Barracuda. Orlando makes their first appearance in the top 10 this season, having won eight of ten games and further solidifying a playoff position in the ECHL’s South Division.
