RAPID CITY, SD — The Colorado Eagles rode the surge from last night’s OT victory into the Black Hills and powered their way to a 3-0 win against the Rapid City Rush to sweep the weekend series.
Both netminders stood strong as the teams entered the locker room scoreless after twenty minutes of play, with the Eagles holding a 7-6 advantage in SOG.
Jesse Mychan would light the lamp for Colorado at 10:26 of the middle frame as he banked the puck off Danny Battochio for the 1-0 advantage.
Collin Bowman doubled the Eagles’ lead at 3:52 of the 3rd period when he knocked in a rebound attempt off Kyle Ostrow’s original shot.
Mychan would get his second goal of the night, and for all intents-and-purposes seal the game, with 5-minutes left on a deflection from Joe Zarbo.
Eagles netminder Eric Levine stopped all 26-shots and gets credited with the win. Battochio takes the loss, stopping 25-of-28 shots faced and falls to 8-6-2 on the season.
The Rush now prepare for a 2-game set against the Tulsa Oilers to close out 2015 and ring in 2016. The New Year’s Eve contest will start at 6:35pm MT and puck drop for the January 2nd contest is slated for 7:05pm MT.
