Jan. 13 2016 WINNIPEG MB – After being badly outplayed on Monday night in a 7-3 loss the Moose were in a snarly mood as they played the Lake Erie Monsters again tonight after a fight filled Monday night things started out pretty quiet as these two teams seemed to be feeling each other out . The Moose were desperate for a win and they played one of there most solid games of the season and bounced back with a 4-0 win before 6,604 fans.
Eric Comrie also bounced back after being pulled and giving up five goals on Monday. He came back tonight and slammed the door shut stopping all 24 shots he faced to earn the shutout, his first of the season. He improves his record to 9-12-3 and has a 2.81 GAA.
The Moose got things rolling late in the first as JC Lipon scored on a beauty of a wrap around after some nice work by Paul Postma , it was Lipon’s eighth of the season and seemed to spark the team and the crowd.
In the second period with Michael Chaput in the box for Lake Erie, Chase De Leo scored his 10th as the penalty was just about over. De Leo converted after some work by Lipon. About two minutes later, Lipon dropped his gloves with Dillion Heatherington and completed his Gordie Howe Hat Trick . This had the MTS Centre rocking and rolling and De Leo ripped a rocket past Monsters goalie Brad Thiessen to give the home squad a 3-0 lead.
Things settled down a bit in the third until Jiri Fronk finished off a nice play between himself and Nic Petan for his fourth of the season.
Lipon , Postma, and De Leo were all over the ice all game and were the three best players as they had 18 shots between them. Postma has looked really smooth for a guy who has only played a couple games this season as he has been a healthy scratch up with the Jets.
The Moose will now head out on a seven game road trip with a 11-20-1-3 record.
Notes : Matt Halischuk was recalled by the Winnipeg Jets today to replace the injured Mark Sheifele.
