Despite five total goals, it was the goalies who shined in Friday night's opening round of the Calder Cup playoffs. In a battle of two Calder Cup playoff first-timers, the Condors got the last laugh as Bakersfield defeated Colorado 3-2.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers finished with the best record in the entire American Hockey League during the 2018-19 regular season, but they have a difficult matchup against the Providence Bruins in round one.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors and Colorado Eagles are set to face off in a battle of two Calder Cup Playoffs first-timers.

This first round match up brings American Hockey League fans a meeting of the two teams which have been viewed for the majority of the season as the best in the Central Division, the Chicago Wolves and the Grand Rapids Griffins.

So the Wichita Thunder and the Edmonton Oilers have been eliminated from playoff contention and that means fans all along the Edmonton affiliation tree are searching for playoff hockey.
