As the ECHL’s only Canadian hockey club continues to prepare for training camp, the team made several player signing announcements Thursday.
Head coach Colin Chaulk announced the signing of three players; Jamie Wise, Bryan McGregor and Zach McCullough.
Wise is a 24-year-old left-winger who split time between the Rockford IceHogs (AHL) and Indy Fuel last season. In 52 combined games, he collected 15 points (6G, 9A.) Following the completion of his junior career, which he spent with the OHL’s Peterborough Petes and Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, he joined the Ryerson Rams for two seasons and led the team in scoring in 2013-14 with 21 goals and 24 assists in 26 games.
Bryan McGregor is no stranger to the ECHL, having played parts of two seasons in the league with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, Johnstown Chiefs and Idaho Steelheads. McGregor’s best season came with the Steelheads in 2008-09 when he posted 38 goals and 44 assists (82 pts) in 66 games. For the last five seasons, the 31-year-old right-winger has played in several European leagues.
The final player announcement made was the addition of defenseman Zach McCullough. The 28-year-old defensive specialist spent the last two seasons in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals (2013-14) and the Kalamazoo Wings (2014-15). The Barrie, Ontario native scored his first professional goal last season with the Wings, an overtime winner to complete a three-goal comeback over the Allen Americans on January 25, 2015.
All three will have to compete for their spots on the Beast roster, beginning Monday, October 5.
