WICHITA, KS – Peter Sivak had four points and Stephen Perfetto notched two goals to help Alaska defeat the Wichita Thunder in their first-ever meeting by the final of 4-2 at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Miles Koules and Christian Isackson led the way the for the Thunder with two points each.
Perfetto gave the Aces a 1-0 lead at the 11-minute mark with a power play goal and his first of two on the night.
He tallied his second goal of the night at the 12-minute mark of the second, again on the power play during a broken play at the right circle and made it 2-0. Wichita answered with a power play goal at 19:11 as Koules got to a bounce off the end-wall and put it past Jacob DeSerres to cut the lead to 2-1.
In the third, Sivak scored just 26 seconds into the frame with an assist to Perfetto and a 3-1 advantage. Isackson pulled the Thunder back within one with his 11th of the season at 6:56 to make it 3-2. That would be the closest the Thunder could get as Justin Breton scored an empty-net goal with 24 seconds remaining and a 4-2 victory.
Wichita hit the 40-shot mark for the fourth time in the last six games. Koules extends his point-streak to three games (1g, 4a). Isackson has points in six of his last seven games (3g, 4a). Sean Bonar suffered the loss, stopping 24 of 27 shots. DeSerres takes the win, stopping 38 of 40 shots he faced.
Wichita and Alaska play one more time tonight to finish the regular-season series at 7:05 p.m.
